Your Voice Has
Already Earned Its Place.

The students we serve need to hear from people who look like them, who came from where they came from, and who figured out how to make their voice work in the real world. That is where you come in.

Why This Matters

One Professional.
One Room.
One Student Changed.

Most students struggling to find their voice have never seen someone in a real professional role take the time to sit in a circle with them and speak honestly. That single experience — a nurse, a business owner, a principal, a community leader choosing to show up — changes the way a student sees what is possible for themselves.

Many students go years without a single adult outside their school telling them their voice is worth developing.

Students communicate more openly with professionals outside their direct authority structure — which is exactly why this model works.

Representation in the room matters. When a student sees someone who shares their background holding space with confidence, it reshapes what they believe is possible.

You do not need to be a speaker or a trainer. You need to be someone whose daily work requires clear, effective communication — and who is willing to show up.

How You Can Help

There Is a Role
That Fits Where You Are

Volunteering with Voices Still Speaking does not require a speech background. It requires presence, professionalism, and a willingness to be honest with young people about what communication has meant in your life.

In the Room

Guest Facilitator

Come into a session and speak directly with students. Share how communication — speaking clearly, holding your ground, expressing yourself under pressure — has shaped your professional life. You are not there to lecture. You are there to be real.

At Your School

Campus Partner

If you work in a school or have a relationship with a school district, you can help bring Voices Still Speaking directly into your building. Identify the students who need this most. Help coordinate the space and the schedule. Be the connection that makes it possible.

Your Profession

Professional Speaker

We match volunteers to cohorts based on what students need to see. Nurses, educators, business professionals, community advocates, and entrepreneurs all bring something different to the room. Tell us what you do and we will find the right fit.

Behind the Scenes

Program Support

Not every contribution happens in front of students. If you have skills in coordination, communications, outreach, or administration, there is a role for you in keeping this program running and expanding into more schools and communities.

Showcase Events

Audience Member

Every program ends with students delivering a speech or personal statement in front of an audience. Your presence matters. Showing up to witness a student complete something they never believed they could do is one of the most powerful things you can give.

Long Term

Ongoing Mentor

For volunteers who want a deeper commitment, ongoing mentorship means staying connected to a student or small group over time — checking in after the program ends, being someone they can reach out to, and reinforcing the growth they built in the sessions.

Who We Are Looking For

You Do Not Need
to Be a Speaker.

You need to be someone whose life required you to develop your voice — and who is willing to share that honestly. Here is who fits best.

Business Professionals

Anyone who leads teams, manages client relationships, or navigates high-stakes conversations in their daily work. You have built communication skills under pressure. Students need to see that.

Educators and Principals

You lead with your voice every single day. You know what it looks like when a student finds theirs — and what it costs them when they cannot. Your perspective carries weight in this room.

Healthcare Professionals

Nurses, doctors, therapists, and counselors communicate life-critical information clearly and calmly under pressure. That composure is exactly what students need to witness from someone who has earned it.

Community Leaders and Advocates

If you speak for others in rooms where it matters — council meetings, public hearings, community events — you carry a kind of authority that resonates deeply with young people who want to do the same.

Entrepreneurs and Creatives

Building something from scratch requires you to communicate your vision before anyone believes in it. That story — of learning to speak up before you had the credentials — is one students need to hear.

Anyone Who Was Once That Student

If you remember what it felt like to have something to say and not know how to say it — and you figured it out — you have something irreplaceable to offer. Your story is the program.

One Hour of Your Time.
A Shift That Lasts a Lifetime.

Students in this program are not looking for perfection. They are looking for proof — that someone like them made it work, that the effort is worth it, and that someone outside their immediate world believes they deserve to be heard. You can be that proof.
